MP Robinson opens new classroom block at Destowe Bennett Basic School
March 13, 2013: Member of Parliament, The Hon. Julian Robinson today, opened a new classroom block at the Destowe Bennett Early Childhood Centre in the Vineyard Town community of his constituency.
The new classroom block will facilitate two additional classes, whose students had been housed in another building adjacent to the school. The project to build the additional classroom block was funded from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in the amount of Five Million, Five Hundred Thousand Dollars, ($5,500,000) and represents the single largest expenditure from the CDF for this financial year in the constituency. “The construction of the new classroom block highlights and represents my commitment as a political representative to invest in early childhood education and development” says MP Robinson. “This project was the brainchild of former Member of Parliament, Mrs. Maxine Henry Wilson and I am proud to have made it a reality” says Robinson. The construction lasted twelve months and was done within budget. NWC plans to commence sewerage works in the Seymour Lands and New Kingston areas

On this, the first anniversary of my election, which took place on December 29, 2011, I am pleased to report on my stewardship as your Member of Parliament. Although the past year has been a particularly challenging one for us as a country and indeed in the constituency, we have been able to achieve much. I wish to thank all the constituents of SE St. Andrew for the faith and confidence reposed in me and for your patience and understanding as we work together to build better communities and a strong nation. I also want to commend Councillors Andrew Swaby of the Vineyard Town Division and Kari Douglas of the Trafalgar Division for their support and work over the last year. In the past year, activities within the constituency have focused on a few key areas, in keeping with commitments I made as a candidate.
